(More customer reviews)After watching my hairstylist finish my hair with this, I decided to buy it from her salon. I like to use it right after I finish washing and styling my hair to tone down the poofiness and smooth out the ends, because my hair is normally poofy right after I wash it. It makes my hair bouncier and makes it noticeably shinier; it definitely does not weigh it down. It's a bit expensive but you only have to use a few drops so it'll last you like a year. My hair is thick and long, so I use 2 small squirts. It has a very subtle but pleasant lavender scent, and it's slippery but not sticky or oily like some other serums. I only give it four stars because on humid days, even though it initially de-poofs my hair, my hair will poof up again in a couple hours. Hey, it never said it could work miracles.

(More customer reviews)I love this product for what it does - volumizes. It comes out as foam and then turns more liquidy as you rub it in your hands. You also have to be careful not to put too much in one spot of your hair, because then your hair will look wet and greasy all day. I like to put it underneath my hair, by the roots, and then shake my head while upside down, creating lots of volume. However, I hate that you have to wash your hands afterwards, after applying it to your hair. The smell is fantastic, it makes you hair smell like you just left an Aveda salon!

(More customer reviews)I have fine wavy/curly hair that turns stiff with gel & mousse curly hair products. With this product, however, I have soft well-formed curls that look great. I find that it works best for me when I use it in the shower with my hair sopping wet. With my head upside down, I put a little curling mousse into the roots and then gently spread a fairly generous-sized amount of Spiral Splendor through my hair and then gently squeeze the water out with a towel, scrunching my hair into curls. Then I can flip my head over and allow it to dry naturally. Love this curling lotion and hope this supplier keeps it on hand - quick delivery...thanks!

I have natural curl and have tried just about every product out there for curly hair, and nothing seems to be any different from just plain shampoo and conditioner but I could tell right away in the shower how this was going to be different, and when I dryed and diffused my hair, it turned out AWESOME! Perfect, natural curls, no frizz AT ALL and kept that way ALL DAY! Don't stop making this. I normally wouldn't even review a product, except if it is REALLY AMAZING or REALLY AWEFUL... Glad I found it!!!

(More customer reviews)This kit has four nice-sized bottles of the basic Deva Curl products, 3 ounces is a good amount to try out with, much bigger than some travel/trial sizes I've paid more for from other salon brands. Since I ordered online and have never tried these products, it was nice to start small.
I'm the kind of person that won't use a product even if it's a miracle in a bottle if I don't like the fragrance. Each of the items in this travel pack has a different scent, but none are overbearingly strong or too oddly scented. Here's what I thought of each:
No-poo- Smells nice, sort of just plain and lotiony doesn't smell like flowers or fruit or perfume. Works good to lift away product build-up and break the surface tension so conditioner works in better.
One Condition- Also a fairly neutral smell, not fruity or perfumed. I thought it worked into my hair easily, eased the tangles out and left it soft and feeling conditioned.
Angell- Not my favorite. Smells very fruity and I think my curls were softer, smoother and less separated before I used this product than after.
Set It Free- Odd scent, like candy or anyway very, very sweet smelling. I don't like it combined with the Angell, it feels sticky. Not as sticky as products that use silicone, but sticky to the point where I don't want to touch my hair without washing my hands after, and that's not very pleasant.
I've got very curly hair and the Deva Curl way of treating curly hair is a change that takes some learning to accept. Check out "Curly Girl" by Lorraine Massey, the creator of these products for a big pep talk on loving and caring for your curls. I'm glad she's come out with this product line because before it came along it was harder to care for curls, even if I'm not in love with every single product.

(More customer reviews)Marc Anthony True Professional Strictly Curls Curl Defining Lotion is a mid-priced product that works relatively well: my curly-haired niece gave me a tube to try. The product claims to have been perfected by world champion hair stylist Marc Anthony, whoever he is when he's at home, and enriched with Silk Protein and Vitamin E: so that it claims to be able to eliminate frizz and repel humidity. Well, I don't know about that, but it will give those of us who are curly-haired a look we can live with, without frizz, generally for at least a day -- me, it gives a head of small, pretty, defined curls. And that's the best I can hope for in the long, hot, humid local summers, when every day is a bad hair day. I've found no hair product that holds for more than a day, and I do seem to remember that on the very worst days, my hair, with this product, might actually not have made it until sundown. The product is alcohol-free, is made without animal testing -- a very important qualification to me, and is made in Canada. The product has a pleasant aroma, to which, it seems, I'm not allergic, and I'm allergic to so many perfumed things. It is reasonably easy to use, just put some in your hand and scrunch through your hair. Mind you, it does suggest the utilization of a hair dryer, which is much too damaging to the hair to be used daily, particularly in these hot summers, if you ask me. But I use it without the hair dryer, and it still works okay.

(More customer reviews)Maybe I'm weird, or maybe the other reviewers are weird... but I think it smells great, to start with.
I have really fine hair that is naturally frizzy... as opposed to naturally curly. This stuff works great for me. It's light weight, so it doesn't look like I've got product in my hair. In fact, my hubby can still run his fingers through my curls and waves and not get sticky or stuck. I DO think a little goes a long way. If I put too much in, my hair gets sticky and stiff. I just work a gumball sized portion into my hair quickly after a shower with my fingers and let my mop air dry. No frizzies, nicely defined soft curls. Love it! I even use it dry in a pinch, though I do like their smoothing fluid better for that.
My only gripe is that it's really expensive. I know it's all natural (whatever that really means) ingredients and that it was never tested on animals-- so I don't mind supporting Aveda because of that. But come on-- does it really have to be THAT expensive, guys?
Oh- and one more caution? If you use it in the summer, bees will love your head because you smell like an uber-flower. That's the burden of botanicals!
