(More customer reviews)I'm really happy with the results I got from this product; it left my hair with a silky shine and even slightly thicker; not to mention the natural brown-looking color which I love!
Also, I'm glad that it didn't stain my skin at all! Usually Henna product are associated with staining the skin and everything it touches... but this one did not.
However, I also like to add a few useful tips:
-DO NOT use the whole package at once! the package contains 100mg of Henna powder, which you mix with a cap & 1/2 of warm water. But, 100mg is enough for two applications. So, use half of the package to 3/4 of a cup of water. If you find that you need more, just add some more henna powder and a little bit of water into your existing mixture.
- Henna product tends to smell a bit like a Holy Cow compost. You can, and I recommend, to add an essential oil with a sweet scent (about half an OZ, (15ml)) to the Henna mixture for better smell.
I truly recommend this product, if one is looking for a natural alternative to hair dyes.

(More customer reviews)I used this product and the red henna with the fox on the box mixed together on my dark brown hair. It's great - it's fun to mix the product and use add-ins. I used raw apple cider vinegar, olive oil, and cinnamon the last time I tinted my hair with Light Mountain. Note that this product will not lighten your hair, but will add lovely highlights and more of a stain on your hair. The effect gets more dramatic the longer you keep the product on your hair.
If you have a gray hair here or there, it will turn a vibrant shade of red after you apply henna. This looks great if you only have a few, but if you have a lot, the company recommends you use their Color the Gray Line. Also, if you've colored your hair, the lighter parts of your hair that are damaged from chemical processing will pick up more color. My faded out highlights looked really nice after I used henna.
Follow the directions on the box exactly, including the strand test, and you'll be pleased. You can redo the application every four weeks. Just glop it on your head, wrap in the plastic cap, and read a magazine for the amount of time you you decided on from your strand test.
Oh, and the scent is very organic - like fresh hay. Add more cinnamon if you don't like the smell, but I like it much better than the harsh, synthetic smell of dyes in the salon. I'd like to give this product 4 1/2 stars. The 1/2 star is because the application is rather messy, but you get better at controlling the splattering each time you use it.
And don't listen to scare tactics if you tell your stylist that you're using henna and she tells you it will ruin your hair. This product contains only henna and indigo ... not chemical salts and the para-phenylenediamine (PPD) that are found in "henna-based" products that still contain toxic chemicals. So you will not damage your hair using this product. But still test for sensitivity.
In summary - if you have a small amount of gray and are looking for a nice tint to your hair and wish to avoid the chemical and financial burden of the salon, Light Mountain is worth a try.

(More customer reviews)I have used many hennas, but this brand is handily the worst I've used. If you're unhappy with this stuff, DON'T BLAME HENNA, blame this manufacturer. Then order some Body Art Quality henna and try again -- you'll be much much much happier, I promise! "BAQ" henna is the stuff used on Indian and Mid-eastern brides for intricate skin painting, so it's super-finely sifted and has the best dye content available. Plus, it's less expensive than this junk!!
1. The makers didn't sift out all the small twigs and chunks of the ground leaves, so it feels gritty. makes extra mess and difficulty in the application, and takes FOREVER to wash out. (My body-art-quality henna takes 1 shampoo, this stuff takes 4-5).
2. There is no "use-by" or "packaged-when" date, so you are very likely getting old stale henna. This would explain the pitiful dye release I've experienced with 2 boxes of this stuff.
3. Colors that contain any Indigo (anything darker than their copper color) are even harder to apply and rinse out. Their indigo supply is even shoddier than their henna!
4. The mixing instructions don't allow enough time for this low-quality henna to begin releasing dye. This is OK if you are using JUST henna or henna/cassia (straberry colored) and you leave the paste on for 2-5 hours, but if there is any indigo in your box, it makes the box worthless. Mixed with hot water, this henna needs 40-60 minutes to release ample color in the paste, and by then the indigo is nearly dead. (Indigo needs to be applied within an hour or its dye "dies").
5. The gloves are complete poo and the price is way too high for the quality.

Now, my hair doesn't turn out the color of the box (i think because my hair is red in the first place and it changes every semi-permanent hair color a different color.) It comes out more of a really dark color with a purplish/red tint, especially in the sunlight, or any kind of light for that matter.
It normally stays a bright color in my hair only about 2 weeks...by the 4th, I definitely have to re-dye it and thats the only downfall of this product

The instructions given are great and I do use espresso ground coffee and cider vinegar to enhance the effect. I have very dark brown hair with very course, stubborn grays (actually, whites) and I get great color coverage for 4 to 6 weeks. It is a little tricky to do yourself, but it can be done. It helps to have another set of hands help apply so your cover roots completely. I now have my hairdresser mix and apply for me. (I bring all the goods to her; takes approx. 2 hours with a cut). We mix the medium and dark brown together and use the heat cap. Love the results! Very natural looking and no harmful anything.

(More customer reviews)I visit top salons in NY and Boston, and the stylists/colorists often compliment my hair color. The color looks natural, it covers well (I color the roots only--I color my whole head only once a year at a salon, as I hate doing it and they can match the color you currently use). Easiest application I've had, and contains as healthy ingredients as I can get for very gray hair.
I like this so much better than NaturTint, which seems to be more widely available in stores.
Note on color, after reading some complaints from newbies: Herbatint's 5N is same color as other brands' 5N (i.e. NaturTint), but I consider this Medium Brown (like the picture on the box) rather than light chestnut.
Also, since my hair is very gray, I keep it on an additional 5 minutes (but no more, or it darkens too much!).

However it is a bit tricky getting used to using heat to set the color and it doesn't lighten hair, it only colors my original dark blond to red. I have taken to using lemons to lighten my hair in order to achieve the same color as I used to get from a box.

(More customer reviews)This product works. I have short, fine, wavy hair that can get dry and frizzy. I did a little research on neutral henna and thought I would give this a try.
I mixed up the powder with hot water, but I added lemon juice, chamomile. I let it set over night. The next day I washed, but did not condition my hair, put on the mixture and let it sit for 2 hours. Putting on the mixture is not bad, I put a heavy duty shower cap over my head.
Use plenty of water to get out the mixture. The end result is my hair is no longer dry, frizzy and now has more shine and bounce. It did made my hair a little blonder and brighter. To me it is no more messy and time consuming than using a chemical dye on my hair.
I love they way my hair looks and feels and I am not afraid of frying my hair. If a person does not want to use traditional hair treatments this is really worth a try.

The powder smelled a little funny, but made a paste that was very easy to work with when mixed with hot water according to the directions. This container has enough henna for two applications on medium-length hair. My hair is naturally reddish-brown, and this color added a very natural orange-red tint that darkened after the second application. It also made my hair less frizzy and shinier. I would buy this again.

Colora Henna Veg-Hair Apricot Gold seems to be a good replacement. The colour may be a little too light for my hair, but it does make my hair shinier and fuller and I intend to try some of the other colours offered. It seems grittier than Hennalucent and requires a little longer application time...but otherwise it is quite comparable and I will definitely buy it again.
