Curly Q Custard Moisturizing Cream - 8 oz Review

Curly Q Custard Moisturizing Cream - 8 oz
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This miracle custard was given to me by my cousin because she didn't like it for her 9 yrs. old daughters hair and was hoping I could use it. Now understand that my daughter is 16 and has the BEST hair in the world, so this wasn't for her...it was for me. I'm seriously mixed (Cuban, Black, Indian (both American, Caribbean & East), Italian, French & Scottish -whew!) So this should give you a pretty good idea of what I'm dealing with regarding my hair. Needless to say, it's naturally curly, very long (to the middle of my back) with the tendency of being more oily at the scalp and very dry and frizzy in the length. The one product that I used in the past that had AMAZING results was Wen. I had to stop using it because it was just too dog-gone expensive, especially with three of us using it (my husband and daughter). Not to mention when I had the opportunity to start using it again (my Mother purchased a 3 pack and gave me one) it just didn't have the same effect as when I first used it- go figure!? Then I tried Mixed Chicks...let me just say that I was SO infuriated with the results after using their products I wanted to form a group and seriously picket them RIGHT OUT OF BUSINESS!!! The next brand I used was Diva Curls...not bad, but still kept me on my journey for the perfect product for my locks-and if it wasn't too much to ask, something that was organic or at least had natural ingredients...enter Curly Q!!! {Que the heaven's gates opening and the angelic music} Hands down this has got to be the BEST product on the market!!! I would even do commercials for these folks...and this is just having used the Curly Q moisturizing custard - I CAN WAIT TO GET MY HANDS ON THE REST OF THEIR PRODUCT LINE!!! Ladies, this is not just for our little princess or our teen queens in the making...it's seriously a miracle magic worker for us women. I hope you get the same satisfaction from this line as I have. My curls are all well defined, separated, NO MORE FRIZZIES, no TANGLES, and most importantly not weighted down or GREASY like a lot of ethnic products can leave your hair. And best yet, it smells SO GOOD!!! So you know I'll be trying everything this company puts out...not to mention buying stock in their company if possible. Happy hair and good luck.

Giovanni Cosmetics Magnetic Attraction Styling Gel Review

Giovanni Cosmetics Magnetic Attraction Styling Gel
Average Reviews:

Really works! Makes curls that last a week or more on heavy, hip-length hair. Don't need to use a lot. Very light scent. Curls feel soft. Leaves no visible residue. Product washes out easily and completely. No build up. Would be amazing by any standard, but at under $10 and natural--can't be beat!! Only drawback--hair takes much longer to dry when this product is used. I hope they never discontinue or change the formula.

Ampro 10.5 oz. Pro-Styl Protein Gel Clear Ice Ultra-Hold Review

Ampro 10.5 oz. Pro-Styl Protein Gel Clear Ice Ultra-Hold
Average Reviews:

Daughters have African-American hair. Have tried all gels, all prices, all brands. Sometimes, SOMETIMES, it's the little inexpensive, no frills product that takes you by surprise. This gel does NOT flake or make hair crunchy, nor dry out. AND, if seeking slicked back into braid, ponytail, french twist style, gelling from forehead on back, hair stays down for entire day--no fly-aways--no frizz. We use a good glob of it, and it gets the job done--no touch-ups necessary, regardless of high winds, humidity, or rain (we've lived all over the world--trust me: we've been exposed to some treacherous weather and this stuff holds up!)

Jane Carter Solution - Hair Nourishing Cream, 4 oz cream Review

Jane Carter Solution - Hair Nourishing Cream, 4 oz cream
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This stuff is GREAT! I am an African-American female with probably 4a/4b hair type and I get relaxers and press my hair fairly regularly. I've had bad relaxer burns that left the skin around my hairline feeling and looking like i had eczema but I used some of this to soothe the area and the ashy, itchy flakiness disappeared! It works GREAT on dry, frizzy ends, and I don't know if anyone else with relaxed hair will experience (because my hair is strange) but it made my relaxed ends wavy and moisturized when I put a bit on at night before bed. All in all, this is a great product, particularly due to the natural oils and nut/fruit butters used as ingredients! ENJOY!

Love the product. However, the presentation of this product is slightly confusing. I thought that I would recieve three products for the price of one. If only one brush was shown it would have been immediately understood that only one item is being purchased or for sale.

From applying my leave-in conditioner in sections to the application of my curly hair-dressing products, these clips are the bee's knees. They've got amazing, perfect hold. There's no slipping, falling, breaking, or popping off. I only needed 1 pack. My hair is shoulder-length. The next user may need more. Nevertheless, a must have for anyone who has a lot of regimen ahead of them and no patience for clippies and sticking a comb in the hair.

This product is a must if you need some shine to your locs. My hair is a dull color and I refuse to use any dye. So all i do after i wash my locs i put some of this sproil in it and it makes my air look great, it also tingles. It gives a brilliant shine for real. My scalp is no longer dry looking and it feels stronger. I also use it in between washes, to keep a healthy shiney loc hairdo.

Kinky Curly Curling Custard 16 oz Review

Kinky Curly Curling Custard 16 oz
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
OK ladies and Gents... I am going to break it down for all ya'll on the best way to use this stuff. It took me a while, but I think I have figured out the process. (Excuse the poor spelling... no spell check on this thing!)
The thing is to pay attention to YOUR hair texture!! If when you wash your hair and it does not have that gorgeous "curl" and has more of a "wave", you need to ring out your hair after washing/ rinsing (towel drying creates frizz). Apply the Knot Today conditioner(they really do work well together), then section your hair into 4 quarters. Take about a dime sized amount of the KCCC and create two strand twists all over in all four sections. It's up to you to decide how many two strand twists. If you want a more defined and curled texture, make smaller. Less defined, make twists bigger. You can air dry or sit under a hood dryer. My tip here is not to make the dryer too hot. Less heat, less frizz! After your hair is dry, use your favorite oil sheen or light hair oil and un-twist if needed. I put a little oil on my finger tips when I un-twist. That way all of the locks get the same amount of oil without over doing it. Re-apply as needed here.
Now, If your hair is fine and you do get that "curl" when your hair is wet. Rinse, ring out, apply conditioner and section as stated before. Apply a dime size ammount and work KCCC through with a wide tooth comb. (regardless of your texture always use a wide tooth comb on wet hair! it stops breakage.) For finer hair types I reccomend air drying, but if you have to use a hair dryer, use a hand held one on a cool/warm setting with a diffuser on the end. This helps prevent frizz a lot!!
FOR ALL HAIR TYPES: Sleep with a satin/silk bonett at night to prevent unwanted kinks, dryness and damage caused by cotton pillow cases. In the morning, take a spray bottle and add a little KCCC Knot Today and warm water together and shake. Spray lightly to refreshen your look!
I have been natural for seven years, and products are going to work different on all of us because we are all different. Work with this one ya'll, we might actually have something great if we give it a chance!

This gel is great for defining and holding curls. I would advise that you moisturize and seal your hair BEFORE you place the gel in, to keep from drying your hair out. This gel is my favorite and ranks number #1 out of IC Fantasia and Smooth and Shine Curl Activator.

Jane Carter Solution - Revitalizing Leave-In-Conditioner, 8 fl oz liquid Review

Jane Carter Solution - Revitalizing Leave-In-Conditioner, 8 fl oz liquid
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My stylist introduced me to Jane Carter's line about a year ago. Initially, I wasn't impressed with the leave-in because my hair was sooooo dry & damaged. I decided to revamp the products I was using on my hair and create a few of my own. I rated this product a 4 because in my opinion, it works best when coupled with other JC products. I started with my pre-wash regimen of my homemade hot oil treatment (grapeseed oil, avocado oil, emu oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil. I then follow that with an evoo & honey masked. I leave that on for about 30min-1 hour depending on what I'm doing and whether or not I sit under heat for full penetration. I washed my hair with the JC sls-free shampoo. I conditioned with JC nutrient replenishing conditioner. I then sat under the dryer with a plastic cap for about 15-20 min. My hair felt great especially after detangling. I then used JC scalp nourishing treatment and the leave-in conditioner. I added a bit of my own shea butter, coconut oil, avocado oil, emu oil, grapeseed oil hair butter to my hair paying close attention to my ends. I rubbed a dime sized amount of the nourish n' shine with 2 drops of the hair nourishing serum. I used the wrap and roll to twist my hair. I sprayed a little of the twist holding spray and sat under the dryer for about 30 min. End result....awesome. I know it seems like a lot, but I've been relaxer-free for over 8 years now. It took me that long to know what my hair really likes. I've tried Ms Jessie, Curls, Mixed Chicks, Kinky Curly, the list goes on, but the JC products seem to be the only ones that my hair actually likes. Instead of just one or two products, all work great on my hair. My hair is very dry without the extra oil, hence the pre-shampoo treatments and I love the extra shine I get from using the honey. The leave-in works best when it is applied right after a deep conditioner and then later in the week to revive hair. I have not been paid by JC, I just love her stuff!

Jane Carter Solution - Nourish & Shine, 4 oz cream Review

Jane Carter Solution - Nourish and Shine, 4 oz cream
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Okay, this is one of those products you hear recommended over and over at CurlTalk, the forum of the NaturallyCurly website. There's a reason it's a word-of-mouth Holy Grail product for curlies and worth the big price, or rather, several reasons:
1. Smells crazy good. Every time I open this up to use anywhere near my sisters or relatives, they wanna know what it is that smells so good.
2. It's got lots of nice natural ingredients.
3. It lasts and lasts, cause you only need a tiny eety bitsy bit to do the hair thang.
4. It actually does provide emollience for hair that needs to hold onto its moisture.
5. It does tame frizz (I won't say ELIMINATE, but I will say tame). It helps de-pouf slept-on hair, too.
6. It's excellent for the SOTC (scrunch out the crunch) step for those who use hard hold gels.
7. It really does add shine. I am not kidding. Really.
8. This can be used on wet hair after conditioning as a sealer in dry climates (or winter seasons) for porous/dry hair types.
9. You can even use this on dry patches of skin, not just hair.
10. I did mention it smells WONDERFUL, right? Yeah...
Anyway, this is a solid pomade in a good-sized jar. You just rub your fingertips in there or use your nail to curl up a small amount, from half a pea size to pea-size, depending on how much hair you have, how coarse it is, etc. You rub it together in your palms to warm up and liquefy. You gently spread it over your canopy and/or scrunch it into your dry or crunchy bits. You can use it to tame wayward curls or smooth a blown-out do into smooth shininess.
A very good product. Frankly, the best in Jane Carter's line and I have a lot of them (shampoo, conditioner, sculpting lotion, spray gel, etc). This is the only one I'll repurchase. But not soon, as I still have plenty left in the one I bought last Christmas.
If you have fine hair (like me), use VERY VERY LITTLE to start. It can weigh your hair down (as will any oils/butters if you have fine hair). If you have coarse hair, this can help add weight to reduce puffiness.
If you have sensitivities to some natural fruity/nutty ingredients, make sure you read the label before purchasing. I almost didn't get it cause I do have some sensitivities to certain citrus essential oils and I get very sick from mango blossoms (though not the fruit). But I found I had no issues with this (maybe cause it's mostly on the outer part of my hair that I use it. Here's what in this product, FYI:
Shea butter, Kokum butter, Illippe butter, Mango butter, Vitamins A, D, & E, pear and grapefruit essential oils.
I think curlies should definitely try this.
And as to this vendor: I've ordered from Vitamin Shoppe via Amazon and from their own site, and they are pretty darn reliable. I had trouble only once out of a half-dozen times, and it wasn't a big deal. Do keep records, though, if you want the rewards. I didn't get mine for last year, and I definitely ordered more than $100. But unless they were out of stock, I always got my stuff and at good prices. So, thumbs up for the vendor.
Enjoy (and enjoy sniffing that jar!)
