(More customer reviews)I got this because I like to experiment with color and amusing products. I was originally considering using some manic panic hair dye but came across this and thought I'd give this a try instead. I thought this would be good because it came with the lightener as well and it was basically the same cost as the other Betty hair dyes that dont include the lightener. I didn't think that the color would be that noticable because, well, let's just say my head hair is brown (with some blond highlites) and you can figure out the rest. Anyways, this is why I got the lightening cream so that the color would be more prominent. I didn't think it would work, but it did! You first mix up the highliter creams and let it sit on your hair for anywhere between 20 to 30 minutes depending upon how light you want it. I wanted it to be real light so I left it on for 30. It also suggests that if you want to make it even lighter to do another batch and leave it on again for the time you want. I had a little left over so I decided to do it again. My hair was blond the first time I used the lightener and it definitely worked-though it was unnecessary to do it again! Technically, it is two colors since you get the blue and the highliter alone can make it look blond. I then added the blue coloring and left it on for 30 minutes and when I washed it off it was indeed blue, though a lite aqaua colored blue. When I applied the color a second time it was a deeper aqua color but still not 'blue-blue.' If you want a darker shade you simply apply another batch. I also didn't listen to the instructions which suggested dumping out about half the bottle on all the liquids used in the dying process. Not only would that be way too much and a total waste (I'm not sasquatch!) but it would be completely unnecessary! I did a small amount and it worked just fine and I now have more leftover for future applications. I also did a sweet little design of some waves so that it would make the blue pop out (pube arborsculptor). I used my Jenna Jameson hair trimmer, some scissors and a razor for that! Very fun product, but just make sure to know that you definitely dont need to dump out half the tube. A little bit definitely goes a long ways! Just to contrast and compare the difference next time I'm going to try manic panic to see if it works like this product does in the same region.I give it four stars because I'd like the color to be a bit darker and use less coloring to get more of an effect so it goes out at the same rate as the highliter and is more effecient.
UPDATE: The blue color went away after about three days while the highlite is still there. I tried manic panic lava on it instead and it did a great job dying it after only 30 minutes and one job! I'd recommend getting the highliter kit and simply buying a manic panic dye instead.
